Is the chef knife dishwasher safe?

For the sake of keeping your blade in good shape, we do not recommend putting your chef knife in your dishwasher. It's best to hand wash with warm soapy water, and dry immediately.

Historically chefs had to choose between an easy-to-clean knife or a knife with a hard and long lasting blade. By using a nitrogen-hardening treatment instead of additional carbon, we're able to produce a knife with a Rockwell score of 58-60 without leaving you needing to polish your knife after every wash.
